25 weeks old (6 months old)

November 6th, 2009 Riley turned 25 weeks old. She has been sitting up on her own more and more. She now takes baths sitting up. Lately she has been falling asleep while playing! It's very cute to see. Riley has two front teeth and she knows how to use them. Watch where you stick your fingers she bites down hard! She has been eating jar food everyday. She seems to like the different tastes of each food. She is still taking 4 bottles a day @ 8oz. each. And she eats jar/cereal food about 3 times a day. Riley has been rolling onto her tummy more now and sticks her legs and arms out like she is skydiving. I'm thinking that she is getting ready to crawl here shortly.

The sleeping schedule has changed a little. She doesn't keep the same sleeping schedule every night. Some nights she goes down early and will sleep through the night and others she will go down around 10pm and maybe get up 1 to 2 times. Her napping is better. I put her in her bed while she is drowsy and she puts herself to sleep. I have been trying to let her cry but it goes from whimpering to full out screaming with tears and i cant stand it so i go in and put the binkie back in her mouth and rock her and she usually falls right to sleep. Hopefully here in the next month she will just go down to sleep all by herself and stay asleep all night long.

Riley's two front teeth

November 6th, 2009 Riley got her second tooth! It came in right beside her first tooth. I have been trying to get a picture of her teeth and finally one day I just decided that I was going to stick my fingers in her mouth and push down her lips so I could get a good picture.

6th month check-up and shots

November 4, 2009 was Riley's 6th month doctor check-up and shots. She also got a seasonal flu shot too. She got 4 shots altogether. Since she is still young she will have to go back in 30 days to get another seasonal flu shot. When the doctors office gets the H1N1 shots in she will have to get two of those also.
She weighs 16 lbs 1 oz (75 percentile) Height 26 1/4 inches (75 percentile) and her head circumference 17 1/4 inches (75 percentile). Riley just really likes the 75 percentile range. She has been that since she was born! The doctor said that I am feeding her just the right amounts of foods & bottles. She said just to give her fruits and vegetable jar foods. Thank goodness she said that I don't think I could go through another turkey gravy jar, the smell was just so horrible.
The doctor said we need to start letting Riley cry herself to sleep now for naps and bedtime. She also said that Riley's bedtime needs to be earlier too. I hope this crying self to sleep thing doesn't take to long for her to pick up on!

24 weeks old (6 months old)

October 30th, 2009 Riley turned 24 weeks old. From now on I am going to be going by the 15th of each month for counting how old she is. That way everyone is on the same page as in how old she is. So November 15th she will officially be 6 months old.

We have Riley practicing sitting up more and more each week. She seems to like it better than laying on her back and stomach. Now she can roll over from both tummy and back. Even though she is doing very well on sitting up she still has a spill now and then and lands on her face or her back. We gave Riley a bath and it was her very first bubble bath and the first time she got to sit up. She seemed to enjoy it. The minute I put her in the bath she grabbed some bubbles and just looked at me. I'm thinking she was a little unsure of it. We have to have our hands behind her back while she is in it or she will fall over backwards. Cant wait until she can hold herself up and I don't have to worry about her falling backwards.

Riley has been taking 4 bottles a day 4 hours apart. We have been feeding her more of the cereal more often. She unusually gets 3 bowls of it a day. She is getting better at each feeding with keeping it in her mouth. She likes to stick her fingers in her mouth the minute the cereal enters it. Adam and I got her 2 jar foods this weekend too. Turkey gravy which smells just like wet cat food- yuck! And sweet potatoes. She was a little unsure of the new foods but after the second time of giving it to her she seems to like it. We go to the doctor for her 6month check up on Wednesday November 4rd. She will be getting her 6 month shots and a flu shot. Hopefully she does well with them like she has in the past.

Riley's First Halloween

October 28th, 2009 was Riley's first Halloween! On Thursday night was Worthington's trick or treating so we got Riley dressed in her Kangaroo costume and went over to Adam's parents house and then to my brothers to show her off. She didn't mind the costume at all. She looked so cute in it. On Saturday was actually Halloween so we put her in another costume from Canady & her parents. It was a frog outfit and she wore it pretty much all day on Saturday. What a lucky little girl to get two Halloween costumes!
